November 12, 2014
Present were: Christine Comstock, Kathleen Esposito, Ken Kvacek, John Bourisseau, Bonnie Borman Goldston, Dale Berger
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Comstock at 10:20 AM.
Approval of the Minutes:
The minutes from October 8, 2014 were approved with the correction: Bonnie Goldston’s name was misspelled and corrected.
Service Director Report:
Dale said the sign boards are fine for now and will be used for the Holiday Lighting.
He has been so busy with leaves there has been little time for anything else.
Directory: There has been very good community feedback about the directory. The information gathered for the directory has been an important start for the database for the Bentleyville Safe alert program.
The Boo-Ville Halloween Fest was held Saturday, October 26. Michael Nemunaitis did a great job with a very successful project. There were probably 80 people there. Painting pumpkins, roasting marshmallows, the treasure hunt in the hay and the wagon rides were very very popular. Talked about adding more scary stuff on the path - adults and kids loved that.
Calendar – We will discuss the calendar in more detail next month. Major events and dates were selected last month.
Holiday Lighting: November 30: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Kathleen Esposito brought in samples of the gifts she is preparing for the children, she has people lined up to bake cookies and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be coming. The Ceremony starts at 6 with coffee, tea, wine juice boxes, cookies and carols. Then 6:45 visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus with small gifts for believers. The Tree Lighting and Holiday wishes from the Mayor will be at 7:15.
Holiday Lighting – Solon Road Bridge, outside tree at Village Hall, Pavillion and Ken thinks maybe Miles Road, also. Troy Young, who has been working with Ken for many years doing the Chagrin Falls lighting, is providing lights. The Village be more beautiful than ever.
We discussed having a Bentleyville seal, an official stamp. It would be useful in preparing the PR material for Bentleyville Safe. It could also be used on the directory, stationary, the newsletter, the website, twitter and other places where often we use a picture of Village Hall. Jan Kepple has agreed to think about designing a seal for us. She will be thinking about what images might be included to represent Bentleyville. The committee made a list of some possible suggestions including McFarland house, a blue heron, deer, maple and or oak leaves, Squaw Rock, our falls, a millstone.
We discussed adding more content to the website including information about the history of Bentleyville, more pictures from the events and more information about Village procedures such as how to pay a ticket, etc..
Meeting was adjourned at 11:15.
Next meeting: December 10, 2014 10:00 AM
